Commercial Litigation

Commercial litigationAlthough every lawyer can take a case to court, few attorneys actually do. The skills and temperament required to take a case to trial can be quite different than those required to do transactional work. That’s why it’s important to work with an experienced trial attorney when your legal dispute needs to go to court.

Since 1992 Mr. Rockne has been working with businesses and helping those businesses resolve disputes. Often, disputes can only be resolved by litigation and trial. Mr. Rockne has handled hundreds of cases in the Superior and District Courts in Western Washington.

In addition to trial experience, Mr. Rockne also brings an in-depth understanding of business, finance, and management processes gained from working as in-house counsel and chief operating manager for a petroleum distributor and marketer. That direct business experience gives him the ability to clearly communicate business realities in a courtroom environment when making a case before a judge or jury.

Mr. Rockne recognizes that disputes are to be resolved and works with his clients to find economical and satisfactory solutions so they can focus on their core business and personal needs and goals. Mr. Rockne is often able to assist clients in their efforts to negotiate a resolution before the parties have filed lawsuits. If a case is filed or pending, Mr. Rockne has successfully used pretrial motions for injunctive relief, motions for summary judgment and pretrial mediation to end the dispute short of trial.

Mr. Rockne knows that, while most cases settle, some don’t. With that knowledge and mind-set, he will prepare his clients and the case from his first day of involvement as though it will be tried before a judge or a jury. This mind-set and preparation often gives his clients an edge over a less-prepared adversary while improving their bargaining position.

Mr. Rockne will work with you to define your goals and help you achieve them.
